Harvest Festival at School

Good thing we had a party at the school tonight...it MADE me get the kids costumes ready for the big night!! I love Halloween....the decorating....fall...crisp air, fresh apples and the smell of cider, but I really can't stand shopping for costumes...it drives me batty!!
I was going to make Tanner a Frankenstien costume...but lost the page that had the awesome idea on it. So I mentioned a lego? He looked at me wierd..and said.."I'll think about it." Well you can see...he went along with it. I let him pick the color of lego he wanted to be....and you see that too. At first we said we would buy him a new pair of high top shoes to wear with his costume...I think that is the reason he agreed to be a lego...seriously!! But then, after putting on his black church pants, he reminded us that he had black socks and shoes already...great ideaTan~
So first, we needed to find the right size of box. We were at Wallmart, and they had just recieved a huge shipment and were bringing boxes in by loads. So I spotted the PERFECT one. When we asked if we could have that box, the packer said...well it isn't marked yet, so I can't take the merchandise out of the box right now, and I don't know where it goes either. So off he went~

Hmmm...what would you do? A box they were just going to flatten anyway...in a couple of hours right?
Well, Kev and I looked at the box, and figured out it was luggage...which happened to be the very exact isle we were standing in...so we just helped them place the luggage on the shelf...how many times do you go up to the register and things aren't marked anyway..right?!

Jaycee said...are you just going to take that box? I said NO...I will definately ask!

So when we went to the register...I ASKED if I could buy this box, and the lady laughed and said, "is it empty?" I said yes....she said...NO, but you can HAVE it!! So we didn't take the box after all...and it WAS the perfect size! Thanks Jaycee for keeping us honest!! :)

Tanner was pretty good about wearing this...but he had a hard time playing games at the carnival, so it had to come off for a while. But he is pretty proud of his lego costume! SO.after..,. 3 boxes, (he wanted me to make a "trick or treat" lego box to match his costume...man...I'm creating a monster..ha ha) 24 plastic cups, 4 cans of black spray paint, 1 can glossy...we had lego blocks!! (And Mom has carpal tunnel in her fingers from spraying for 2 hours!!) It was fun though~

Jaycee wanted to be a ladybug this year...but as always...Mom waited too long and the costume was gone..she wasn't into a handmade one...so she found these bunny makin's, and she does make a pretty cute bunny.
So one party down and 2 more to go this week! Stay tuned to see what Kev and I threw together for our costumes....not as original..trust me on this one!!
